Plant Heritage Members’ Day and Plant Exchange 2026

Suffolk Plant Heritage is looking forward to welcoming you to the 2026 Members’ Day and Plant Exchange.

On the evening of Friday 5th June 2026 you will be entertained by an interesting talk followed by a three-course dinner in the beautiful Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds.  The talk will be held in the Court Room and the dinner in the adjoining Banqueting Hall.  All areas are on the level and spacious enough to safely accommodate wheelchairs.  There is ample room for 60 guests.

Saturday 6th June 2026
begins at Helmingham Hall, Stowmarket IP14 6EF  With small groups being taken on a guided tour of the well known Helmingham Hall Gardens, designed by Lady Xa Tollemache.

Tea and coffee will be on offer together with stalls displaying some of the 21 National Collections held in Suffolk, with plants for sale.

Framsden Hall, the home of Lord and Lady Tollemache, is on the Helmingham Estate about 2 miles from the Hall.  The Barn, a 16th/17th /18th Century Suffolk Barn, in the words of Nikolaus Pevsner “Framsden Hall…….Barn. 200 ft long. Ground floor late C17 or C18 brick, upper floor C16 timber with brick nogging.”  Join us for a memorable day.

We will gather here for the buffet lunch followed by talks from three guest speakers.  Plants from the Plant Exchange will be available for collection at 4pm.

There is plentiful accommodation available in and around Bury St Edmunds, which is an historic and  beautiful  town  The Abbey Gardens adjacent to the Cathedral are well worth a visit.

Your welcome will include access to National Collections and some local gardens, either on the Friday afternoon or on Sunday morning, if you would like to stay over the weekend.

The Suffolk group plans to send you details in good time of National Collections and gardens open for visits.
