Chelsea Gold for Suffolk Collection Holder
Suffolk National Collection holder Sarah Cook has won gold at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
Sarah’s gold medal-winning exhibit at the 2025 Chelsea Flower Show showcased iris cultivars from the National Collection. Her display featured a stunning variety of irises, particularly those bred by Sir Cedric Morris, a renowned artist and horticulturist. Morris was known for his work in developing bearded irises, many of which have been preserved thanks to Sarah’s dedication to plant conservation.
Sarah has spent years researching and rediscovering Morris’ irises, ensuring their survival and recognition in the horticultural world. Her exhibit highlighted the unique colors and forms of these irises, demonstrating their artistic and botanical significance. The collection included rare and historically significant cultivars, some of which had been thought lost but were rediscovered through her efforts.
Beyond Chelsea, Sarah Cook has been recognized by Plant Heritage for her work in cultivated plant conservation. She was honoured with the Brickell Award for her dedication to preserving the Benton irises.
