It’s not long now before the Plant Heritage Plant Fair at Helmingham Hall on Sunday, 16th September.   The free plant (for the first 800) is Narcissus bulbocodium subspecies conspicuus – a ‘Hoop Petticoat’ species Narcissus. It reliably produces up to 15 bright golden yellow flowers per bulb with fine grass-like foliage. It’s not too soon to be thinking about the Spring Plant Sale – Sunday 27th May, 10am-4pm, Helmingham Hall, IP14 6EF. The free plant will be Penstemon ‘Drinkstone Red’. It’s described as: A good red, hardy Penstemon, flowers for a  long period over the summer with long tubular flowers and  medium green foliage with an elegant appearance.  It should be kept deadheaded to encourage flowering and cut back in spring to new shoots coming from the base.
