The Free Plant for the Spring Plant Sale

It’s not too soon to be thinking about the Spring Plant Sale – Sunday 27th May, 10am-4pm, Helmingham Hall, IP14 6EF. The free plant will be Penstemon ‘Drinkstone Red’. It’s described as: A good red, hardy Penstemon, flowers for a  long period over the summer with long tubular flowers and  medium green foliage with an elegant appearance.  It should be kept deadheaded to encourage flowering and cut back in spring to new shoots coming from the base. Propagating Ferns from Spores

Anthony Pigott came to our propagation class  and gave us a lesson in propagating ferns. We had already collected some fern fronds, and began by tapping the frond with our fingers, over paper, to release the spores. We used a multipurpose compost with some added vermiculite.
